About this Listing
This great vintage style poster, drawn by Gustav Wilhelm Krollman, features steam engine #2607 (apparently a favorite of Krollman’s, as it appears in several of his works) as it steams through the Cascade mountain range on the main line route of the North Coast Limited near Stampede, Washington. Krollman designed a series of posters for the Northern Pacific Railroad, using images “that displayed a strong sense of modeling and a richness of color.” The North Coast Limited route was established by the Northern Pacific Railroad in the 1880’s.
Krollman was known for magazine illustration, portraits and murals in homes and public places. Born in Vienna, Austria in 1888, he died in 1962.
The poster is 19” wide by 25” high untrimmed; the image is 17” wide by 23” high. The excess white border can be trimmed away or covered when framing. It is printed on linen quality heavy paper and will be shipped rolled (not folded) in a cardboard container.
