This auction is for a fine looking Train Collectors Association 4-bay hopper car made in 1969 for the Train Collectors Association National Convention held in Clearwater, Fl. and hosted by the Southern Division. The hopper car is all original and complete. The TCA Quad Hopper car was an uncataloged limited edition run of only 1,000 units produced to commemorate the 25th Annual TCA Convention. This was the last year of Lionel post war era train production before the company declared bankruptcy. The Quad hopper car features nice clean and crisp bright white heat stamped lettering on a red painted molded plastic body. It includes operating knuckle couplers at each end mounted on the AAR type plastic trucks, steel metal wheels and axles, and a center metal brace spreader bar. In addition to car data, a Palm Tree Logo, and the TCA logo, the car is inscribed "BLT BY LIONEL 4-69". There are no known factory variations of this car. The Hagerstown, MD checkerboard box is complete, with all flaps intact. It is labeled on one end only, and came with only 1 coupler protection flap.
